Our Chief Executive; Donna Baddeley joined the Wallich team to deliver humanitarian aid, support and advice to people that are sleeping rough or are vulnerably housed within Bridgend.
An early morning breakfast run saw experienced staff support those in need by providing them with breakfast, hot drinks, sleeping bags, warm clothing and toiletries.
The team offer a wide range of advice and signpost them to access the most appropriate, relevant and often specialist services, these include housing advice, benefit advice and referrals to supported accommodation, healthcare and substance misuse centres.
The drop-in centre is located at 10 Park Street and provides a safe environment off the street. There is access to a dedicated solutions worker, washing machine, dryer, shower, clothes bank, telephone, computer, help to complete forms, and applications for them to use.
Donna commented: “As more and more funding is withdrawn from public services, the pressure to fill the gaps for the most vulnerable in society increasingly falls on our shoulders. In order to maximise our impact, we are keen to seek out and collaborate with partners across all sectors. Thank you to the Wallich for letting me help alongside their rough sleepers intervention team this morning, it was great to see the amazing work that their doing.”
