Community Regeneration in Action

Achievement of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard demands that the stock transfer process is focused on the delivery of physical improvements to the housing stock and to the estate fabric where homes are located.

Valleys to Coast recognises that investment in social housing can play a broader role in the physical improvement of local areas and significantly, in the regeneration and development of communities. The potential regenerative impact from investment in housing becomes especially potent considering the almost precise co-location of former council estates and those areas which display significant and multiple deprivation.

As a consequence, Valleys To Coast’s declared core objective is ‘community regeneration in action’. The intention is to mainstream this objective throughout its activities.

Valleys to Coast is committed to the regeneration of communities through investment in the housing stock and estate fabric and will invest over £70m in refurbishment and renewal during the first 5 years of operation.

V2C seeks to lever value added for the benefit of communities through its contacting processes, through local procurement and through innovative use of its asset base.

In addition, V2C works closely with a range of partners to maximise opportunities for the development and regeneration of local areas.
