Congratulations to our Vice Chair and Tenant Board Member Sue Rhodes who recently received an award from the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) in their Trustee Category.

As well as giving her time to V2C Sue is also a supporter of a range of other voluntary organisations including Mental Health Matters, and the Bridgend Coalition Against Racism, her nomination read: "Sue’s unselfish advocacy for improvement to tenants' homes and the wider community has been an inspiration to fellow board members, representative tenant groups and partner agencies."

Sue attended the ceremony with her father, and received her award from BBC news presenter Sara Edwards.

Sue said “Being nominated was completely unexpected and then to find out I’d actually won an award was quite a shock. I really enjoyed the awards day and found it both interesting and inspiring to hear about and meet some of the other winners and their work volunteering throughout Wales.

Volunteering with V2C has presented me with so many opportunities for both being involved in the community and developing my own skills and experience. Whilst I consider it an honour to receive the award, part of the praise should go to V2C for all the opportunities and support offered to a wide variety of people".
