Bettws Boys and Girls Club: Building for the Future

Posted On:2008-04-23

Bettws Boys and Girls Club’s building at the Old School has recently had a face lift with the help of the Valleys to Coast’s Building Communities scheme. Work has recently been completed to install a brand new central heating system and double glazed windows and doors in conjunction with contractors Lovell and Bowater. Both contractors have signed up to help community groups as part of their commitment to Valleys to Coast’s Major Improvement Programme that will ensure that their properties are brought in line with Welsh Housing Quality Standard by 2012.

Beth Ellis, Youth Provision Manager of the Bettws Boys Club said “we would like to say a big thank you to Valleys to Coast and the contractors as without this scheme being in place the club would have had great difficulty in maintaining the building and bringing it up to the quality standards. The work carried out has helped by not only bringing the windows and heating into the 21st century but also created a safer and warmer environment for both the members and workers.“

Peter Cahill from Valleys to Coast: “The Building Communities Scheme is a pivotal way in which the Association invests in the local community. It is great to be able to contribute to such a good cause as the Bettws Boys and Girls club who make a substantial impact on the lives of young people in the area.”
