Annie Francis 100th Birthday

We joined Mrs Annie Francis, her family, and friends last month to celebrate her 100th birthday at our Hafan Deg sheltered unit.
One of Hafan Deg’s first residents, Mrs Francis has resided there since it opened in 1986.
Born in Rhondda, Mrs Francis was the second child of thirteen. She moved to Maesteg for work in her teens, where she met a local man and married. They settled down in Maesteg, living in Turberville Street for 42 years, had three children, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild…..so far.
Everyone really enjoyed the party, with family coming from England to join in. Mrs Francis’ was very pleased to receive her card from Her Majesty, which took pride of place in front of her throughout the day.
It was clear that Mrs Francis enjoyed herself, and a family member said that "she had been treated like a queen for the day".
