Senior Officer

Senior OfficerI have been employed by V2C since the company was founded in September 2003. My first position within the company was a Works Assessor but I have now progressed to Senior Officer within the repairs department. Excellent personal development and training opportunities have provided me with the knowledge and key skills for the future. All staff are valued and encouraged to contribute towards improving working practices. All offices have recently been refurbished to a high standard and have the latest technology available which enables me to carry out my duties efficiently in a pleasant environment, also flexible working hours means that planning events outside of work is made easier. All in all V2C is a very forward thinking, progressive, customer and staff oriented organisation.

Bursary Student

Bursary StudentMy year’s work placement at Valleys to Coast is coming to an end, but the valuable insight into a range of innovative projects that I have earned has inevitably expanded the variety of practical and creative skills that I have gained.

The placement started with a six week induction phase, where I spent at least a day with every department in the company. Not only did this allow me to familiarise myself with names and faces, but also helped me to learn about each department and its role within V2C.

After the initial 6 weeks, I started working in the community regeneration department. The pioneering work that I have been involved in ranges from a £1.3 million Estate Improvement Programme to improve the external fabric of 4 pilot estates, to working in partnership with ITV Wales’ Big Clean Up Campaign. One of the most important skills that I have obtained during my placement is the importance of building relationships and working in partnership to achieve tangible outcomes.

Being part of such an innovative and performance driven team has provided me with numerous key skills, ranging from data interrogation using GIS software to assisting community consultations. V2C has also invested heavily in extending my key skills and knowledge base for the future by allowing me to attend a variety of training courses to develop specialist skills that are crucial for a career in community regeneration.

Finance Officer:

Finance OfficerI was made redundant suddenly in the summer of 2004 and knew in my mind the type of Company I now wanted to join. I made the decision firm in my mind that I would not take just any position that was offered to me. I was very fortunate that a post was advertised with Valleys to Coast and shortly after I applied. I knew some things about the organisation following the press coverage prior to the take over. I felt this was the ideal opportunity to join a new and exciting organisation. I was very fortunate that Valleys to Coast felt that I suited the position and I joined in September 2004 and can honestly say since then I have never looked back. The induction programme that we have in place is also a great benefit to any individual that joins as this incorporates you spending time with other Departments so you feel not only part of your team but that of the wider team.

Don’t just consider the financial benefits that come with working for an organisation, the opportunities have been far greater. V2C are a forward thinking organisation that fully support their staff and invest time and money in training and development. They are fully dedicated in providing a first class service to tenants as well as investing strongly in their staff. We have a very comfortable working environment with state of the art technology.

Don’t think twice as someone else will grab the opportunity!

Clerical Assistant:

Clerical AssistantI’m 20 years old and have been working for Valleys to Coast for the last 14 months. I joined Valleys to Coast at the beginning of October 2004 as a receptionist. I then applied for my current job in December 2004 and got the job. I am now training to be a Health and Safety Officer. In my current position I undergo training with the Health and Safety Officer, Sue Jones. My on the job training includes visiting demolition sites and attending health and safety audits of contractors. Valleys to Coast have given me the opportunity to develop by offering me the opportunity of undertaking a NEBOSH certificate in health and safety which I commence in February 2006.
